Renault Lodgy

A couple of weeks ago, I got an interesting opportunity to drive Renault’s newly launched MPV – the Renault Lodgy, in Goa. Renault, in association with leading bloggers platform, Blogadda.com, had invited 40 top bloggers from across the country to attend a three-day #LiveLodgycal Drive in Goa.

During the event, the bloggers got the opportunity to get behind wheels of this newest Renault giant on the road and also got to interact with the product and marketing team of the brand.

The Renault Lodgy – Take Your World With You

The Renault Lodgy, the latest product from the Renault stable comes in a choice of two seating options – 7 seater and 8 seater. Utilitarian in design, it is available only with diesel engine options, with 7 model variants to choose from. The starting price tag of this vehicle is Rs. 8.19 lakhs which goes up to 11.79 lakhs for the top model.

Sturdy and Spacious Design

With the tagline of ‘Take Your World With You, Renault Lodgy succinctly tells the world what its USP is. It’s massive in size and has quite a looming presence on the road. While many Indians might find the low-on-chrome look not very attractive, its simple and sturdy design is winning admirers too.

Inside of the Lodgy is every bit as spacious as it appears from the outside. All the three rows have ample leg room and there is standard AC vents in all three, so the passengers don’t feel stuffy during a long ride. The seats are not just chic and elegant to look at but are very sturdy and comfortable.

Talking of spacious interiors, during the #LiveLodgycal Drivie, the bloggers experimented with different seating combinations – rolling back the third row – and indeed there was space enough to not just pack a huge picnic hamper, but also pack two people alongside.

Smart Dashboard

Renault Lodgy’s two-tone, chrome-finished dashboard attractive to look at. Neat and sorted, the dashboard has all the buttons and controls smartly compartmentalised. While the cruise control switches are featured on the steering wheel, the audio and phone controls are located behind the wheel. Talking of audio, during the drive the entertainment quotient kept high, thanks to the state-of-the-art MediaNAV Multimedia System, that could be easily operated from it’s 7″ screen display screen.

Here’s a small video of the musical fun while on the #LiveLodgycal Drive.

Another feature of the high-tech MediaNAV Multimedia System that was a winner for me was the rear parking aid that makes parking at difficult, congested places, a child’s play.

Performance and Safety

With powerful, class defining engines and superior fuel efficiency, the Lodgy gives good performance and a comfortable drive experience. The Lodgy’s 85PS engine model offers a mileage of 21kmpl while the 110PS engine model offers around 19kmpl.

The Lodgy is fitted with the regular safety features including dual air-bags, door ajar warning, driver’s seatbelt reminder, impact sensing automatic door unlock and rear defogger. The rear parking sensors and side impact protect beams are another features that ensure safety on the road.

The Renault Lodgy is a contemporary car, with upmarket looks and great features. Of course, it’s biggest USP is space. The luggage capacity of the vehicle is impressive with huge storage areas. So if you are looking for a BIG car for the family, then this one is a Lodgycal option for you.
